How to guide students on Eportfolio – Criteria C

Dear Teachers,

Our discussion today will delve into the assessment of Performance on ePortfolios, centering specifically on criterion C. Our focal point will be a past ePortfolio titled “Joy of Movement.” To begin, we’ll present the task outlined by the IB. Subsequently, we’ll offer comprehensive insights aimed at enabling students to grasp precisely what’s expected for their performance. Emphasis will also be placed on essential guidelines for students to consider while recording their assessments.

Eportfolio Criteria C

Task 3

Demonstrate, based on the coach’s performancedevelopment plan:
untickedSkills, techniques and /or strategiesuntickedThe application of a range of complex movement concepts to enhance the expression and joy of the performance.
The video evidence (1 file) must demonstrate the student as client based on the coach’s performance development plan. Evidence required in the video:The initial performance (which) may be but does not have to be in a meaningful real-world situation.The final performance (which may be but does not have to be in a meaningful real-world situation) showing application of techniques and/or strategies as well as movement concepts. (Ci and Cii holistically)
Note: the video must not include training exercises, isolated skills or development sessions. The video of the performance must clearly demonstratethe technical skill(s) by positioning the camera in an anglethat ensures the technical aspects being developed areclearly visible (full body).

(Ci and Cii) Assessment of Performance

  • Demonstrates and applies a range of skills and techniques effectively (Ci)
  • Demonstrates and applies a range of strategies and movement concepts effectively (Cii)

The video evidence (1 file) must demonstrate the student as client based on the coach’s performance development plan. 

Evidence required in the video:

  • The initial performance can be in a meaningful real-world situation or not.
  • The final performance can be in a meaningful real-world situation or not but showing application of techniques and/or strategies as well as movement concepts.

Note: the video must not include training exercises, isolated skills or development sessions

Guidelines to Video Creating:

1. The performance video must not exceed 3 minutes in length (inclusive of Pre-test and post-test.

Note: Any footage beyond three minutes will not be considered in the grading.

2. The video should have tags or voice-over of the:

a. skills and techniques demonstrated, and

b. strategies and movement concepts applied.

3. You should demonstrate a variety of skills, techniques and/or strategies as well as movement

concepts.

4. The video should be in landscape format

5. Background should be clear: i.e., no movement of people, no identity of logo and flags

6. It should be easier to identify the client.

7. The clarity of the video should be good and not blurry.

8. There should be no music or adverts or noise of any nature in the video apart from Dance

performance. (You must use the citation for the song used for Dance at the end of your video).

9. The time should be divided between the initial (pre-test: 1 min) and final performance (post-test:

2 mins).

10. In sports, such as table tennis and badminton, the angle of the camera is important. The

examiners need to see the field of play, to see if the chosen strategy and/or skills used were

successful in their execution.

N.B: Your criterion C, Applying and Performance grade will be based ONLY on the content of the video you submit.

The video must be submitted to your respective PHE teacher in a flash drive.

Criterion C: Applying and performing

Command Terms:

Demonstrates – Make clear by reasoning or evidence, illustrating with examples or practical application.

Applies – Use knowledge and understanding in response to a given situation or real circumstances. Use and idea, equation, principle, theory or law in relation to a given problem or issue

Recalls – Remember or recognize from prior learning experiences

Identifies – Provide an answer from a number of possibilities. Recognize and state briefly a distinguishing fact or feature

Analyse: Break down in order to bring out the essential elements
