The Dreamers: Our Badminton Journey in Jordan
If Day One Was a Movie… It Would Be:
“The A-Team.”
From the very first serve, our team brought energy, courage, and unity to the courts in Jordan. We couldn’t have asked for a better start: 14 wins out of 16 games against ISOI. The confidence was high, the spirit even higher.
But every great story needs a twist. Matches against AISC and AISD gave us a reality check a humbling reminder of the level of competition. Perhaps we had a small weakness for teams beginning with “A”? Luckily, we ended the day strong with an incredible performance by our Lower School players, who lifted everyone’s spirits.
The energy was contagious. The players supported each other and demonstrated the skills they’ve worked so hard to develop not just badminton techniques, but Approaches to Learning (ATL) skills like communication, resilience, and collaboration. Day One set the tone: this team was more than ready.

If Day Two Was a Song… It Would Be:
“Tried Our Best.”
After two days, we had played 128 matches, winning 64 a solid 50% win rate, putting us in 6th place out of 9 teams.
It wasn’t just about scores. The day was full of grit and emotion. Some players were disappointed, which only shows how much they cared. Every student gave their all, and in doing so, they learned about the game, about themselves, and about perseverance.
In wins and in losses, we saw the real meaning of sport. The badminton court became a classroom for life lessons.
If This Journey Was a Book… It Would Be:
“The Dreamers.”
Over three unforgettable days, 738 matches were played across the tournament. For us, each match was a chapter in a story that was about far more than winning. It was about perseverance, friendship, growth, and passion.
We arrived with just two veteran players, a team of new coaches, and many students participating in their first-ever tournament. And yet, we stood among the best.
We supported one another. We believed in each other. And we showed what can happen when people come together with a shared dream.
The proudest moment? Being awarded the SAISA SPINS for Sportsmanship a true reflection of our character, values, and team culture. That honor means the world to us.
What Did the Players Say After the Final Match?
-
“Relieved.”
-
“Very proud.”
-
“Good.”
-
“Happy.”
-
“Can’t express my feelings.”
These simple words capture a complex journey. We came to Jordan as individuals and left as a team a stronger, wiser, and more connected team.
Looking Ahead
Next year, we will be hosting SAISA. With the spirit we’ve built and the lessons we’ve learned, the future of OSC Badminton shines bright.
We leave Jordan full of memories, gratitude, and dreams for what’s next.
Thank you to our entire school community for the unwavering support. You’ve helped make this journey unforgettable.
Before we close, we leave you with a photo from our “Reflection Time” a moment where we paused, looked around, and realized: every step, every serve, and every smile was part of something greater.

Until next time,
The OSC Badminton Team
