We’ve Got Rhythm – Movement composition Unit

Dear Educators,

Last year, I became a certified Level 1 Animal Flow coach, and this year, I decided to bring this experience into my teaching by introducing a unit on Animal Flow to my Grade 9 and 10 students.

Below is the GRASPS for the unit. I welcome any questions or feedback. Enjoy exploring it.

GOAL: Demonstrate how creating movements through interactions can help build relationships

ROLE: You are an artist

AUDIENCE: School Community

SITUATION: Our school just got a brand new gym floor, so we decided to celebrate by organising a big event. We’re inviting all the MYP grades to join us for a show. Each grade will take part in its own way. The idea is to bring everyone together, showing how we can be united even with our differences, and have fun as a school community.

PRODUCT: You will set up a goal and come up with a plan for your performance. CRITERIA B

You will perform a 2-3 min routine during the Show. CRITERIA C.

STANDARDS: Criterion B & C all strands will be assessed.
